Bubble Gum Cards (Part 1)

A set of bubble gum cards from 1957, I've only got a few which were sellotaped into an album, these due to the age came loose easily but sadly the original owner of the scrapbook discovered glue which was pretty good so I can only scan a few backs.

Here we have Bournemouth, Everton, Hartlepool, Leyton Orient and Middlesbrough.

Good to see Brian Clough and Peter Taylor together at Middlesbrough.

Middlesbrough player and brother of Ipswich's Eric.

 

Legends

Brian Clough and Bobby Charlton here being tipped for England honours.
Their future careers went in different directions.
Clough went on to become one of the greatest managers of our time but only represented England twice despite scoring nearly a goal a game before injury ended his playing career.
Charlton went on to win 106 caps for England and is rightly regarded as a football legend, but his managerial career was far from successful.
