1958 F.A Cup Final

The 1958 Cup Final was between Bolton Wanderers and Manchester United. It took place just 3 months after the Munich Tragedy.
Bolton won 2-0 with both goals by Nat Lofthouse, the 2nd where he barged Harry Gregg and the ball into the net (which was legal at the time).

The 1953 FA Cup Final is always known as "the Matthews Final", which always seems unfair on Stan Mortensen who is one of only 3 players to score a hat-trick in the final, and still the only one to do so at Wembley.

Sunday Football

In 1974 it was the first time league football was played on a Sunday, Power shortages meant games had to be played during daylight. Some of the previous weeks F.A Cup games had been used as a trial.

The law at the time was that teams couldn't charge admission on Sunday so they made it entry by higher priced programme only.

Some people weren't happy.
